The holidays are over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t roast things over an open fire.
For New Zealander Simon Turner, that fire just happened to be some piping hot lava. Using a spare tent peg, Turner got some toasty results. (We'll overlook that chocolate and graham crackers weren't present to complete the s'more trifecta.)

The lava lake in the video is in Ambrym, Vanuatu, an island close to Fiji.
According to the video, temperatures near Turner were roughly 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit (about 1,093 degrees Celsius).

Good thing Blargg, the lava monster from Super Mario World, was hibernating.
Despite what Mario led us to believe, if anything fell into the volcano, it wouldn't immediately sink into it: Lava is liquid rock, which is ultra dense and viscous. So the item would fall, sink a little, and burst into flames.
