The ABC reported Baryalei's death on Wednesday, a month after he was allegedly involved in the planning of a Sydney beheading plot.


An arrest warrant for Baryalei was issued in the wake of a recent ABC 7:30 report which revealed him to be instrumental in recruiting foreign jihadis and named him as the most senior Australian among the ranks of ISIS.


Foreign Minister Julie Bishop speaking at the National Press Club said Australian authorities were looking to confirm his death.
