Police have launched an investigation after a penis was spray-painted onto a Banksy mural in Folkstone, Kent.

The work, in Payers Park, called Art Buff, originally showed an elderly woman with her hands behind her back admiring an empty plinth.
Kent Online reported the vandalism was first noticed on Saturday evening.

However, the damage was not permanent as council staff erected a perspex cover over the mural shortly after it appeared last month.
Kent Online said the offending penis was subsequently cleaned off the cover using specialist equipment.
The reports quotes a Kent Police spokesman as saying: "Kent Police was called at 8pm on Sunday 12 October to a report of criminal damage in Rendezvous Street, Folkestone.
"It was reported artwork on a wall had been painted on. Officers attended the scene and enquiries are ongoing."
